I'm sure some of you must remember 1ndigoCat. She was quite a popular artist in the online furry art community, with around 2K followers on her DeviantArt before she deactivated. She used to have an account here on Newgrounds too, and although we didn't interact with each other as much the past couple of years, we were still friends.
A couple of weeks ago, I saw that her Discord username had been changed to "RIP". Obviously, I was very concerned about this, but I figured it might have just been her way of officially stepping away from social media entirely. After all, she had deactivated her DeviantArt account at the start of the year, and her Newgrounds not long after...
Well, the other day, I got a message back from her husband, confirming the worst. 1ndigoCat has indeed passed away. Although she had been quiet about it online, she had been fighting mental illness for many years. She finally lost that battle, and ended her own life.
This is such a horrible tragedy... She was only a few years older than me, and now she'll never live on to see the rest of what life may have had to offer... I also can't imagine the kind of pain her husband must be going through right now...
A real shame to see such a talented artist leave our space, but her hundreds of online fans will never forget her; she'll live on in our hearts. Her anthropomorphic characters will remain immortal, so long as her art is preserved, and we do not forget who drew them. The real human being who drew them.
Sorry if my post is too long or soppy, but somebody needed to make it. Remembrance is important, as is art preservation. So, please make sure to visit 1ndigoCat's only remaining art gallery at FurAffinity, and if you have an account there (I do not), be sure to pay your respects to her if you knew her: https://www.furaffinity.net/user/1ndigocat/

UPDATE: Speaking of FurAffinity, one of her closest friends put out a remembrance post of their own. They obviously knew her a bit better, because they have some more information about the kind of struggles she was going through that led to her regrettable decision... You can read about it here: https://www.furaffinity.net/journal/11173868/

Even if I didn't know this artist and I never interacted with her, every time I hear news about people who tragically passed away my heart shatters since those kinds of inner battles touched me on a personal and family level. I'm deeply sorry for this loss, I am deeply sorry for your loss and I send my condolences from the bottom of my heart. I send a virtual hug to you.
